You Should Listen To This Now
Far be it for me to tell people what they should and should not read/listen to. I think literature and music preferences are a bit of a personal choice (says the girl who until she was 18 didn’t admit that she listened to anything besides rap and r&b). But sometimes you come across something that you just want to tell anyone who’ll listen to you about. And that happened this past Sunday. I was behind on my podcasts I only got to listen to last week’s Selected Shorts then. And I don’t think I’m over exaggerating when I say that it changed my life. Okay, maybe I’m going a bit overboard there, but still.
One of the best since I started listening to it last October.
The main piece this week featured J. Robert Lennon’s “Eight Pieces for the Left Hand” which I found out was a part of the 2005 Best American Short Story Series. “Eight Pieces…” got extended into a full length novel called Pieces of the Left Hand: 100 Anecdotes. I’m ordering it immediately. All eight pieces that was broadcasts was good and I don’t have any question that the entire book will be just as good.
So give it a listen. Please take note that the first part (the one with “Eight Pieces…”) is a good 25 minutes long. But it’s so worth it. I don’t see a link to listen to it on the page, but any podcast directory should have Selected Shorts in there. You won’t be sorry.
thanks for stopping by and voting on my blog! so nice!
